I haven't added anything to this blog in a long time but thought I'd add a quick list of some of the films that I thought stood above the rest that I've seen. My list includes those films that linger with you for days afterward, or those that have sentimental meaning from childhood faves to newer films that break the mould.

Good choices! I can see many of my favourites on your list. I have for a while been an avid collector of old classics, with stars such as Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelley, Vivien Leigh, Marilyn Monroe, Norma Shearer... They are really good and it's so much fun to see them. I just love period movies. They are my all time favourites.

Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Greer Garson are some of my favourites! And if we mention the men, I'd have to say I love Cary Grant, Gregory Peck and Jimmy Stewart just to name a few!

Perhaps you haven't seen it.

I find it impossible to include in your list (which I know is very personal) Life is Beatiful and to exclude the much superior Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Oscar winner in 1990.

Teresa, I've never seen Nuovo Cinema Paradiso...

I love period dramas like you, and your list is nearly equal mine. Sorry for my english.
